Take care, Mac 6-28-07 NEWS Greetings From Hodges Hobbies; At this point we only have 10 signed up for the race. We need a minimum of 16 to have the race. If you haven't registered and plan to race, go to www.hodgeshobbies.com and sign up. Go to the home page and scroll down the left side of the page and click on Quickie Registration. We will check first thing in the morning and I will send an email out letting you know if the race is on or has been cancelled. It seems as if a lot of our regulars have something else going on and aren't able to attend. Mac 06-26-07 NEWS Greetings From Hodges Hobbies; The Stick Contest Saturday was an A-Class affair. That's because we had 10 in A-Class and none in B. Well, we did have one show up for B but Dan put him in A. Don't know where the B-Class guys were but the A-Class guys had a good time. Winners were: 1. David Grantham 2. Mac Hodges 3. John Stevens It was good to have John Stevens back flying with us. John, Dan, and Mike were 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively. John, Dan, and Mike also need new planes after the contest. What's up with that?? This Saturday - June 30 - Quickie Race - Hodges Hobbies - 10AM - It's been a while since we've been able to schedule a race so if you've been itching to race, come on out. But first, go to www.hodgeshobbies.com and register for the race so Robin can get you on the matrix sheet. At this point we need more racers to have enough for a race. So if you are planning on racing, please register. We now have LiPo transmitter batteries. Put one in and fly all day for several days without recharging. Mac 4-26-07 NEWS Greetings From Hodges Hobbies; A reminder that SEFF (Southeastern Electric Flight Festival) is starting today and will run through Sunday. We've already got a huge crowd. There will be plenty of vendors and the noontime demos Friday, Saturday, and Sunday should be great. Hope to see you, Mac 4-14-07 NEWS Greetings From Hodges Hobbies; The Pop Curtis Memorial Fly-In is over for another year and I'm sure the weather man caused some of you to miss a great fly-in. This event has been going on for over 20 years and has never had Saturday rained out. This record is still intact with the weatherman really missing it yesterday. Not only did the rain hold off until about 10PM last night, the most amazing thing was the forecasted 20MPH winds never materialized. It started off a little breezy in the morning but around lunch time the winds died and it was calm the remainder of the day and we had a great day of flying. The Airmasters club is having their spring fly-in this Saturday, April 21. This is always a great fly-in and should be well attended. Also, don't forget SEFF is two weeks away! We need to revamp the Stick rules since the Tiger Stick is no longer available. The Ultra Stick seems to be the new Stick of choice and they seem to be coming out about 4.5 lbs. RTF. So what to do about a weight limit? We were at 5.5lbs. which is what the typical Tiger Stick weighed ready to fly. I think we should reduce the weight requirement but to what? Also 2 servos will be required for ailerons so the old one servo per function will have to be changed. We also will now allow an OS engine in addition to the Thunder Tiger. I've also been asked about the Mac muffler. I don't see a problem as this is not a power enhancing muffler and it stays together. Your thoughts on these things? See you Saturday, Mac 4-11-07 NEWS Greetings From Hodges Hobbies; The Pop Curtis Memorial is this weekend at Hodges Hobbies. This is our spring fly-in and should be well attended. The dates are April 13 and 14, which is Friday and Saturday. The forecast for Friday is great. Hopefully the scattered showers forecast for Saturday will be scattered. We will have concessions and Mr. Harrell will do barbecue Saturday afternoon. See you then, Mac 3-25-07 NEWS Greetings From Hodges Hobbies; Yesterday's Quickie Race was great fun. We couldn't have had a nicer day. We had 16 racers and everyone had a great time. Even the few that midaired and had other mishaps. Well, I hope they did! The winners were: B-Class 1. Larry Johnson 2. Dan Stevens 3. Robin Drake A- Class 1. Keith Douglas 2. David Grantham 3. Mac Hodges We have been using Omega 15% fuel for the races and the Stick contests. Would most of you like to continue with the Omega or would you prefer Cool Power 15%? Omega has a small amount of castor and the Cool Power is all synthetic. This coming Saturday, March 31, the Dixie Aeromasters are having their spring fly-in at their club field in Gray Ga. This will be a well attended event and they would like to invite everyone to come and join them. For info and directions, go to http://dixieaeromasters.com/ . Along with the B-29 and some other toys, I plan to fly one of the new Hangar 9 F-22s at the fly-in. I have taken the trainer wing cuffs off and added servos to operate the flaps. Pretty nice looking sport airplane. I'm also flying it with my Spektrum radio. See you in Gray, Mac 3-23-07 NEWS Greetings From Hodges Hobbies; Talked to webmaster Zach today, he should have the website updated with the race entrants tonight. It's still not too late to register. Weather is going to be great and this will be the last race for several months due to the crowded schedule. Also, remember the minimum weight is now 3.75 lbs. so throw some lead in. We now have the Trex SEV2 in stock as well as the new Thunder Tiger Mini Titans, along with the new Parkzone RTF Spitfire that flies great. See you Saturday, Mac 3-22-07 NEWS Greetings From Hodges Hobbies; The March 10 Stick Contest was well attended and everyone had a great time. We added a new C Class as an open "catch all" class. In C Class you can fly any airplane, engine combo, glow or electric. The A and B Classes will be limited to any stock Stick airplane with a standard .46 engine. A standard engine is defined as a TT Pro.46, OS .46, or SuperTiger .45. No expensive high performance engines such as Jett, Rossi, etc. The Sticks must have no mixing and meet a minimum weight of 5.5 lbs. It seems the favorite plane emerging as the choice of the A-Class pilots is the Hangar 9 Ultra Stick. The winners were: B- Class 1. Don Pruitt 2. Sam Williams 3. Robert Gambescia A- Class 1. David Grantham 2. Mac Hodges 3. Mike Stevens We have a Quickie Race coming up this weekend, March 24. The weather forecast is calling for a great day. It's important to go to www.hodgeshobbies.com and register if you plan on racing. That way we can have the matrix made and get started at 10AM sharp. It's also important to let us know if you can't make it if you have preregistered and see that you are not going to be able to attend. Also there are a couple of other events on tap this weekend: Warbirds Over the Panhandle - Friday and Saturday - Marianna, FL - www.chipolarcaviators.com Dogwood Festival Fun Fly - Saturday - Jesup, GA - Golden Isles Model Aviators We got the windsock airplane down this weekend and put some new wings on it and got it back on the pole. Thanks to Scott O'Quinn for the new wings. We've even got ailerons now! See you Saturday, Mac
